Nishikawa’s Homer Seals Orix Victory Over Lotte in Tight Pitching Duel
OSAKA, Japan (Interstat) — Ryoma Nishikawa hit a solo home run in the eighth inning Tuesday night, helping the Orix Buffaloes to a 3-1 win over the Chiba Lotte Marines at Osaka Dome.
The Buffaloes broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh on Yuma Mune’s two-out RBI single before Nishikawa provided insurance with his blast off reliever Shota Suzuki. Orix took an early lead on Ryo Ohta’s bases-loaded walk in the third, which Lotte matched in the sixth on Ryusei Terachi’s walk with the bases full.
Lotte starter Yuto Kimura allowed one run over six strong innings, but Orix’s bullpen combined for 3 2/3 scoreless frames. Luis Perdomo earned the win in relief and Andres Machado got the save before a crowd of 22,646. The game lasted 3 hours, 13 minutes.
