Yokohama at Yomiuri
Giants, BayStars Close Series in Tokyo Dome Finale
TOKYO (Interstat) — The Yomiuri Giants and Yokohama BayStars will meet for the third consecutive night to close their weekend series Sunday at Tokyo Dome, with both Central League clubs looking to build momentum from a split of the first two games.
The Giants (4-4) evened the series with an 8-4 victory Saturday night, powered by a two-run home run from Trey Cabbage. The import outfielder, a player to watch for Yomiuri, is 6 for 20 with two homers and three RBIs over his last seven games.
Yokohama (2-6) won the series opener 3-1 on Friday but has struggled overall, dropping six of its first eight contests to start the 2026 campaign. A player to watch for the BayStars is reliever Hayato Horioka, who pitched a scoreless inning in Saturday’s loss.
The Giants’ offense, which erupted for eight runs on 11 hits Saturday, will look to continue its production against a Yokohama pitching staff that has a 4.50 team ERA. Yomiuri’s Riku Masuda also homered and drove in two runs in the win.
Projections slightly favor the home team. Interstat’s game simulator predicts a 3-1 Yomiuri victory, while its ELO system gives the Giants a 50.90 percent probability to win.
Following Sunday’s series finale, Yomiuri will embark on a three-game road trip to Hiroshima starting Tuesday. Yokohama returns home to host the Chunichi Dragons for a two-game set beginning Tuesday.
First pitch is scheduled for Sunday evening at Tokyo Dome.
