Yomiuri at Yakult

TOKYO (Interstat) — The Yomiuri Giants and Tokyo Yakult Swallows will conclude a three-game series Sunday evening at Meiji Jingu Stadium, with the Giants looking to even their record in the final week of the season.

First pitch is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, under cloudy skies with a temperature around 78 degrees.

Yomiuri (68-69-3) enters the contest after a wild 9-8 victory over the Yokohama BayStars on Saturday, powered by a perfect 4-for-4, three-RBI performance from Kazuma Okamoto. The Giants have split their last 10 games.

The Swallows (54-78-6), despite being well below .500, have been competitive lately, winning four of their last five, including a 3-1 win over Hiroshima on Saturday. Munetaka Murakami led the way with a two-run homer.

The Central League rivals have a recent history of blowouts. In their last meeting on Sept. 18, Yakult shut out Yomiuri 5-0. However, the Giants routed the Swallows 15-2 in a August meeting. Yomiuri holds a 9-5 advantage in the season series.

Projections are split. Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a 5-2 Yakult victory, while its ELO rating system gives Yomiuri a slight 52.6% probability to win.

The series continues Monday at Meiji Jingu Stadium before both teams begin their final series of the 2025 season.
