Yomiuri at Yokohama
YOKOHAMA, Japan (Interstat) — The Yokohama BayStars will look to continue their recent dominance over the Yomiuri Giants when the Central League rivals meet again Saturday evening at Yokohama Stadium.
The BayStars (70-65-4) have won three of the last four head-to-head matchups, including a 5-4 victory in the series opener Friday night. Yomiuri (67-69-3) has dropped seven of its last 10 games overall, falling below .500.
Saturday’s forecast calls for cloudy skies and a game-time temperature of 80 degrees.
Yokohama holds a slight edge in the season series, 8-7-1. The BayStars’ bullpen was key in Friday’s win, with Hiromu Ise and Kohei Morihara combining for two scoreless innings of relief.
Yomiuri’s Kazuma Okamoto, who went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs in the loss, remains a constant threat. Teammate Yuta Izuguchi added three hits.
Projections favor the home team. Interstat’s game simulator predicts a 6-3 Yokohama victory, while its ELO system gives the BayStars a 56.4% probability to win.
Following this two-game set, Yomiuri travels to face the Tokyo Yakult Swallows on Sunday, while Yokohama heads to play the Hiroshima Toyo Carp.
