Ullmark’s Shutout Leads Senators Past Islanders
BELMONT PARK, N.Y. (Interstat) — Linus Ullmark stopped 23 shots for his fourth straight win and a shutout, backstopping the Ottawa Senators to a 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday at UBS Arena.
Ridly Greig opened the scoring with a backhand goal in the first period. Jake Sanderson and Michael Amadio added third-period goals to secure the win. Amadio finished with a goal and an assist, while Greig had a goal and an assist.
Ilya Sorokin made 13 saves for the Islanders, who were shut out at home. The fight-filled contest featured 14 combined penalties, including a fight between captains Brady Tkachuk and Anders Lee just one second into the game.
Both teams moved to 43-37 overall. Ottawa, which has won four of its last five, was a pregame favorite and outperformed a statistical projection that favored New York.
