Wembanyama leads Spurs to 115‑111 win over Knicks in Game 3
NEW YORK (Interstat) — Victor Wembanyama scored 32 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 115-111 victory over the New York Knicks on Monday night at Madison Square Garden, trimming the Knicks’ series lead to 2-1 in the NBA Finals.
Wembanyama added six assists and three blocks for the Spurs, who shot 48 percent from the floor and 40 percent from 3-point range. Stephon Castle contributed 23 points and five assists, Dylan Harper had 13 points and nine rebounds, and De’Aaron Fox orchestrated the offense with 12 points and eight assists.
The Knicks, who had won 13 straight games — the second-longest postseason winning streak in NBA history — saw that run end before a crowd of 19,812 that included President Donald Trump. Jalen Brunson led New York with 32 points and five assists, while OG Anunoby added 28 points. Josh Hart recorded 16 points and nine rebounds.
San Antonio seized control with a 35-point third quarter, building a lead it never relinquished. The Knicks missed a chance to move within one win of their first championship since 1973. Game 4 is Wednesday in New York.
