PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — Jalen Brunson scored 33 points and keyed a decisive second‑quarter run, leading the New York Knicks to a 108‑94 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night and a 3‑0 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Game 4 is Sunday in Philadelphia.

Brunson shook off a 2‑of‑8 start from the floor to finish 11 of 22 in 38 minutes, adding five rebounds and nine assists. He scored 13 of his points in the second quarter as the Knicks erased an early deficit and seized control. Brunson has now scored at least 26 points in five straight playoff games, following a 26‑point effort in Game 2 and 35 points in Game 1.

New York trailed 31‑27 after one quarter, undone by Paul George’s 11 first‑quarter points and a 31‑point outburst by Philadelphia that featured four 3‑pointers. George knocked down a 28‑foot jumper and a 25‑foot 3 in the opening period, while Kelly Oubre added eight points, including a driving layup and two free throws. The Knicks struggled from the field early, shooting 10 of 22 in the quarter, but their defense tightened in the second.

The turning point came early in the second period. Jose Alvarado hit a 29‑foot 3‑pointer at the 8:20 mark to cut the 76ers’ lead to 35‑34, and Mitchell Robinson followed with an alley‑oop dunk off a Brunson feed to give New York its first lead at 36‑35. Brunson then buried a 28‑foot 3‑pointer at 6:11, and Mikal Bridges added a 24‑foot 3 at 4:12, stretching the advantage to 44‑40. Brunson’s pull‑up jumper with 3:38 left in the half made it 46‑42, and Bridges converted a layup with 2:33 remaining for a 48‑45 lead. New York outscored Philadelphia 33‑21 in the quarter, taking a 60‑52 halftime edge.

Key to the run was New York’s ability to generate second‑chance points and force turnovers. The Knicks grabbed seven offensive rebounds in the half, with Josh Hart hauling in three. Hart finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, his seventh double‑double of the postseason. New York also forced eight Philadelphia turnovers in the first half, turning them into nine points.

Philadelphia cut the deficit to single digits several times in the third quarter. Kelly Oubre’s 3‑pointer with 4:37 left pulled the 76ers within 70‑67, and VJ Edgecombe’s running dunk with 4:03 remaining made it 72‑70. But New York answered each time. Brunson scored six points in the third, including a driving layup at 5:29 and a free throw that pushed the lead back to 76‑70. Landry Shamet buried a 27‑foot 3‑pointer with 7.1 seconds left in the quarter, giving the Knicks an 85‑76 lead entering the fourth.

The 76ers made one final push in the fourth. Quentin Grimes hit back‑to‑back 3‑pointers, the second at 8:54 cutting New York’s lead to 108‑84. However, the Knicks responded with a 7‑0 run keyed by a Brunson 3‑pointer with 7:03 remaining and a Bridges turnaround jumper at 8:04. Bridges finished with 23 points on 9‑of‑18 shooting, hitting 4 of 5 free throws in the fourth. He also grabbed three rebounds and added a steal.

New York’s defense held Philadelphia to 18 points in the final quarter, the 76ers’ lowest output of the night. Paul George scored 15 points on 6‑of‑15 shooting, making three 3‑pointers in the first quarter and none thereafter.

The Knicks shot 38 of 76 from the floor, 50 percent, and 9 of 27 from 3‑point range. They connected on 23 of 32 free throws, including 9 of 12 in the fourth quarter. Philadelphia shot 36 of 84, 42.9 percent, and made only 9 of 32 3‑pointers. The 76ers attempted just 16 free throws, making 13. New York dominated the offensive glass, grabbing 13 rebounds to Philadelphia’s nine, and outscored the 76ers 17‑9 on second‑chance points.
