Cubs Even NLDS With Shutout Victory, Palencia Outduels Peralta
CHICAGO (Interstat) — Ian Happ’s three-run homer in the first inning powered the Chicago Cubs to a 6-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday, evening their National League Division Series at two games apiece. The decisive Game 5 is set for Saturday in Milwaukee.
Happ’s blast off Freddy Peralta staked the Cubs to an early lead before a crowd of 41,770 at Wrigley Field. Kyle Tucker and Michael Busch added solo home runs for Chicago. Five Cubs relievers, led by winner Daniel Palencia, combined for 4 1/3 scoreless innings after starter Matthew Boyd went 4 2/3 strong frames.
The Brewers, who managed just three hits, still lead the best-of-five series. Peralta took the loss.
