N.Y. Yankees 1, at Toronto 10

Saturday, October 4, 2025 · Final · Championship Series Game 1 (TOR leads 1-0)

New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays

TORONTO (Interstat) — A familiar American League East rivalry is set for the postseason stage when the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays open their playoff series Saturday afternoon at Rogers Centre.

The Yankees (96-69), who clinched the season series 7-6, enter Game 1 with momentum, having won four of their last five, including a 4-0 shutout of the Boston Red Sox on Thursday behind a dominant 12-strikeout performance from starter Cam Schlittler.

The Blue Jays (94-68) closed their season with a powerful 13-4 win over Tampa Bay on Sept. 28, fueled by a two-homer, six-RBI day from catcher Alejandro Kirk. However, they dropped two of three in their most recent trip to New York in early September.

Despite the Yankees holding the slight edge in the season series and overall record, oddsmakers have installed Toronto as a -1.5 run favorite for the opener. The game’s over/under is set at 7.5 runs, though the Interstat game simulator projects a high-scoring affair with an 8-5 victory for New York.

The winner of this best-of-five series will advance to the American League Championship Series. Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday in Toronto before the series shifts to New York for Games 3 and, if necessary, 4.
