Cincinnati Reds vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to build on their commanding recent history against the Cincinnati Reds when the teams meet in Game 2 of their National League playoff series Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers, who finished the regular season 93-69, took a 1-0 series lead with a shutout victory in Tuesday’s opener. They have dominated the Reds this season, winning five of the seven regular-season meetings, including a three-game sweep in August where they outscored Cincinnati 18-1.
Los Angeles enters the contest riding a wave of momentum, having won six of its final seven regular-season games. Veteran Clayton Kershaw was sharp in his last tune-up, and superstar Shohei Ohtani remains a constant threat in the heart of the lineup.
The 83-79 Reds, who secured a playoff berth despite a recent 2-4 stretch to end the season, must find an answer for the Dodgers’ pitching. Cincinnati’s bullpen showed some promise in its final regular-season game, with relievers Chase Burns and Connor Phillips combining for 2 2/3 scoreless innings with six strikeouts.
According to a projection by Interstat, a high-scoring affair is expected, with the simulator predicting a 7-6 Dodgers victory.
The series will shift to Cincinnati for Game 3 on Thursday.
