WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Interstat) — Leody Taveras drove in three runs and Shane Baz pitched Baltimore to a 5-3 win over the Athletics on Saturday at Sutter Health Park. Taveras doubled in the third to score Coby Mayo, then delivered a two-run double in the sixth that gave the Orioles a 4-0 lead. Colton Cowser added a solo homer in the fifth. The Athletics answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth and one in the eighth, but Baltimore added an insurance run in the ninth. Baz allowed two runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings to earn the win. Jack Perkins took the loss, giving up one earned run in five innings. Andrew Kittredge pitched a scoreless ninth for his eighth save. Baltimore collected seven hits, while the Athletics had 10 and grounded into three double plays. The Orioles improved to 67-71, and the Athletics dropped to 53-83. Attendance was 10,619, and the game lasted 2:48.
