His recent work includes six innings of two-hit shutout ball at Seattle on Aug. 7 and six scoreless innings against the White Sox on Aug. 1.

Detroit’s Tanner Rainey also has been sharp out of the bullpen. He has not allowed an earned run in his previous five appearances, covering 6 2/3 innings with six strikeouts. Rainey pitched two scoreless innings in Monday’s 4-1 loss.

Jonathan Aranda provided much of Tampa Bay’s offense Monday with a home run and two RBIs.
