Cleveland Guardians at Colorado Rockies

DENVER (Interstat) -- The Cleveland Guardians will try to extend their winning streak to three games Saturday when they visit the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

Cleveland (64-66) enters with momentum after beating Colorado 9-1 on Friday in the series opener. The Guardians have won three of their last four. Right-hander Tanner Bibee (4-13) is scheduled to start for Cleveland. Colorado will counter with right-hander Gabriel Hughes (0-4), who remains winless this season.

Patrick Bailey is a key player for Cleveland. The catcher went 2 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs in Friday’s victory. He also had two hits and an RBI on Thursday against San Francisco. Travis Bazzana starred in the opener with four hits and three RBIs, and Joey Cantillo allowed one earned run over 4 2/3 innings while striking out five.

Colorado (50-78) has lost four straight and five of its last six. The Rockies were swept in a three-game set by the Los Angeles Dodgers before Friday’s loss to Cleveland. One bright spot has been reliever Mark Manfredi, who has not allowed an earned run in his last two appearances. On Friday, he pitched two-thirds of an inning with one strikeout. In his previous outing against the Dodgers, he struck out two in 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

The weather forecast calls for 84 degrees and cloudy skies at game time. Coors Field’s hitter-friendly conditions could play a role in a game with an over/under of 11 runs. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-3 Colorado win, but Interstat’s ELO model gives Cleveland a 60.5 percent chance of victory. Cleveland is also listed as a minus-1.5 run-line favorite.

Bailey has driven in six runs over his past 10 games, including the big performance Friday. For Colorado, Manfredi will be watched from the bullpen after his recent scoreless stretch.

The teams close the series Sunday. Cleveland then travels to Los Angeles to begin a three-game series against the Angels on Monday. Colorado heads to Washington for a four-game series against the Nationals starting Monday.
