Miami Marlins at Atlanta Braves

ATLANTA (Interstat) — The Atlanta Braves will try to complete a three-game sweep Thursday night when they host the Miami Marlins at Truist Park in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

Atlanta (69-45) has taken the first two games of the series, beating Miami 4-1 on Wednesday and 4-2 on Tuesday. The Marlins (58-57) entered the series after winning three straight in New York, but they have been held to three runs in two games by the Braves.

Left-hander Martín Pérez (7-6) is Miami’s scheduled starter. Atlanta had not announced a starter for the finale. The forecast calls for 76 degrees with rain at game time.

Miami will look to avoid another loss to Bryce Elder, who remains a player to watch for Atlanta despite having pitched Wednesday. Elder allowed one run on one hit over seven innings in the Braves’ 4-1 win, striking out three. Over his past four starts, Elder is 3-1 with a 1.88 ERA, striking out 18 in 24 innings.

Eury Pérez is a player to watch for Miami, no relation to the scheduled starter. He has taken the loss in each of his past five starts despite a 3.00 ERA. In 30 innings over that stretch, he has allowed 10 earned runs and struck out 32.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-5 Atlanta victory. Interstat’s ELO system gives the Braves a 59.8 percent chance to win. Atlanta is a minus-1.5 run-line favorite, and the over/under is 8.5 total runs.

Miami will begin a stretch of games Friday with three home games against the Los Angeles Angels, followed by three against the Pittsburgh Pirates, then road series at Cincinnati and Philadelphia. Atlanta opens a four-game road trip Friday at the New York Yankees before hosting the Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks.
