Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers
MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers host the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday at American Family Field, where the forecast calls for 70 degrees and cloudy skies.
The Brewers (69-42) look to bounce back from a 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. Pittsburgh (56-57) is coming off a 10-2 defeat at Cincinnati. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-4 Milwaukee victory, and the Brewers are installed as 1.5-run favorites. The over/under is 9.
Pittsburgh has dominated the season series, winning five of six meetings, including a three-game sweep at home from July 10-12. Milwaukee’s last win against Pittsburgh was a 5-0 shutout at American Family Field on April 26.
Pirates right-hander Yohan Ramírez has been a bright spot out of the bullpen. Ramírez threw two scoreless innings against the Reds on Sunday, and he has allowed one earned run with 13 strikeouts over his past 11 1/3 innings. He also threw a scoreless inning in Pittsburgh’s 3-2 win over Milwaukee on July 11.
Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski has been equally sharp. Misiorowski struck out 10 and allowed two runs over seven innings against the Angels on Sunday. In his last four appearances, he has 39 strikeouts in 23 innings with a 2.35 ERA. He has struck out at least 10 in three of those outings.
The Brewers won the first two games of their series at Los Angeles before being shut out Sunday, while the Pirates lost the finale of their series in Cincinnati after winning the opener. Milwaukee remains one of baseball’s best teams, and Pittsburgh is trying to climb above .500.
The two teams will continue the four-game series Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at American Family Field.
