San Francisco Giants at Texas Rangers
ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — The San Francisco Giants look to end a three-game losing streak Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington, where the forecast calls for clear skies and 90 degrees at first pitch.
The Giants (47-65) are coming off a 5-4 loss at San Diego on Sunday. Reliever Sam Hentges threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings with two strikeouts in that game. Over his past eight appearances, Hentges has allowed three earned runs in 7 1/3 innings while striking out nine. He has been one of the steadier pieces in a San Francisco bullpen that has kept the Giants close in several losses.
The Rangers (55-57) have lost five straight after a 7-3 loss at Houston on Sunday. Right-hander Kumar Rocker took the loss, allowing three earned runs and 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings with five strikeouts. In his previous start, he threw six scoreless innings against the Chicago White Sox, striking out six. Brandon Nimmo went 2 for 3 with a home run and an RBI in Sunday’s loss, and Ben Peoples pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
San Francisco’s offense has been inconsistent, but the Giants scored 16 runs against Milwaukee on July 29 and have shown flashes of power. Texas has scored two runs or fewer in four of its past five games.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 Giants victory. Interstat’s ELO system gives Texas a 55 percent chance to win. San Francisco is installed as a 1.5-run favorite, and the over-under is 8 runs.
The two teams will continue the series Tuesday and Wednesday before San Francisco returns home to face Detroit on Friday. Texas will host Baltimore on Friday. This opener could serve as a turning point for a Giants team trying to climb out of last place, while the Rangers are desperate to stop their slide and remain competitive in the AL West race.
