Philadelphia Phillies at Miami Marlins
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins meet Tuesday night at loanDepot Park in the second game of their three-game series. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies and 79 degrees.
Philadelphia (57-49) arrives following an 11-4 win Sunday over the New York Yankees, snapping a five-game losing streak. Second baseman Bryson Stott keyed the victory, going 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs. Stott, who has shown recent inconsistency — hitting safely in four of his past 10 games but going 0-for-7 in consecutive losses July 24-25 — will be a focal point for the Phillies lineup.
Miami (52-54) dropped a 5-3 decision Sunday to San Diego, its fifth straight loss. Right-hander Janson Junk took the loss, allowing one earned run on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings while striking out six. Junk has struggled in his past two outings, surrendering seven earned runs across 8 2/3 innings. He will need better command against a Phillies lineup that scored 11 runs Sunday.
The teams split a four-game series in Philadelphia from June 15-17, with the Phillies winning three of four. The Marlins took Monday’s series opener 5-2. In the four games at loanDepot Park from May 1-4, Philadelphia won three.
Philadelphia enters as a -1.5 run favorite, according to oddsmakers. The over/under is set at 8. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-0 Phillies shutout.
Following Tuesday’s game, Philadelphia travels to Baltimore for a three-game set, while Miami heads to New York for four against the Mets.
