New York Mets at Milwaukee Brewers

MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers aim to extend their dominance over the New York Mets on Wednesday afternoon at American Family Field, where the National League Central leaders will send a red-hot Jacob Misiorowski to the mound against a Mets club sinking in the standings.

Milwaukee (63-37) enters as heavy favorites at -1.5 on the run line, with Interstat’s game simulator projecting a 6-3 victory. The over/under is set at 7.5 runs. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. under cloudy skies and a forecast of 80 degrees, with rain possible.

The Brewers have won two straight against the Mets, including a 3-0 decision Tuesday and an 8-3 drubbing Monday. Misiorowski (3-0, 1.66 ERA on the season) was the star of Monday’s win, tossing four scoreless innings and striking out six while allowing four hits. The right-hander enters having allowed three earned runs or fewer in four of his past five outings, including a 10-strikeout performance against Cincinnati on July 2.

New York (42-59) counters with rookie right-hander Logan Henderson, who carries a 3-1 record into his first start against the Brewers. Henderson’s recent outings have been solid, but he faces a Milwaukee offense that produced 16 total runs Monday and Tuesday and features infielder Cooper Pratt, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and an RBI in Monday’s win.

The Mets, losers of seven of their past eight games, managed only one hit Tuesday and have scored two runs or fewer in four of their previous five. Xzavion Curry, a reliever listed as a player to watch, was tagged for one earned run on two hits over 2 2/3 innings in Monday’s loss. He has allowed one earned run or fewer in four of his past five appearances, but the Mets continue to struggle to string together offense.

Milwaukee, winners of 10 of its past 14, opens a homestand that continues Friday against Colorado before road trips to San Francisco and Los Angeles. New York remains on the road for series against Los Angeles, Atlanta and Miami.

The Brewers will look to sweep the three-game series, while the Mets seek to avoid their fourth straight loss and continue a slide that has left them 17 games under .500.
