White Sox rout Orioles 9‑3 for second straight win
BALTIMORE (Interstat) — Erick Fedde pitched six solid innings and the Chicago White Sox erupted for seven runs in the third inning to roll past the Baltimore Orioles 9-3 on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, before an announced crowd of 17,581 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
The White Sox improved to 45-39 and won their second straight game, following an 8-2 victory over the Orioles a night earlier. Baltimore fell to 39-48 and has lost two consecutive games.
Fedde, who entered with a 2-6 record, allowed three runs on seven hits over six innings. He struck out five, walked three and earned his third win of the season. Tyler Schweitzer worked the final three innings for his first save, allowing two hits and striking out three without issuing a walk.
Trey Gibson took the loss for Baltimore, his record dropping to 1-3. Gibson was charged with eight runs on seven hits in 2 2/3 innings. He walked four and struck out four.
The White Sox grabbed the lead in the first inning. Kyle Teel walked, moved to third on Andrew Benintendi’s double and scored on a groundout by Tristan Peters. Benintendi’s double was his 12th of the season.
Baltimore tied the game in the bottom of the first. Gunnar Henderson singled and scored on a line-drive single by Samuel Basallo. The Orioles loaded the bases with two outs but Leody Taveras flied out to end the inning.
The game turned decisively in the third inning. Benintendi singled and Colson Montgomery followed with his 21st home run of the season, a two-run shot to right-center field. Braden Montgomery walked, Chase Meidroth walked and Tristan Peters singled to load the bases. Jacob Gonzalez then lined a two-run single to left, scoring Montgomery and Meidroth. Junior Perez capped the rally with his second home run of the year, a three-run blast to center field that scored Peters and Gonzalez, making it 8-1.
The White Sox added another run in the fourth. Peters singled, moved to third on a double by Gonzalez and scored on a groundout. Gonzalez’s double was his fourth of the season.
Baltimore answered in the fifth. Henderson doubled and scored on a double by Dylan Beavers. Pete Alonso followed with a single to plate Beavers, cutting the deficit to 9-3. But that was all the Orioles could muster. They put runners on base in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings but could not push another run across.
Blaze Alexander went 2 for 4 for Baltimore and Henderson went 2 for 5. Beavers finished 1 for 4 with an RBI. Albert Suárez pitched three innings of relief, allowing one hit, no runs and striking out four. Josh Walker allowed one run on two hits in 1 1/3 innings. Andrew Kittredge pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.
For Chicago, Benintendi had two hits, including a double, and scored twice. Gonzalez had three hits, including two doubles, drove in two runs and scored twice. Montgomery’s home run and Perez’s homer highlighted a White Sox offense that totaled 11 hits. Baltimore managed nine hits.
The game lasted 2 hours, 47 minutes.
Chicago’s recent surge has lifted the White Sox back above .500 after a stretch of inconsistent play. They had lost four of five before the current two-game winning streak. Baltimore, meanwhile, has lost six of its last eight and faces an uphill climb in the American League East. The Orioles have struggled at the plate in recent games, scoring four or fewer runs in seven of their last eight contests.
The White Sox are scheduled to continue their series in Baltimore on Wednesday, July 1, before traveling to Cleveland for a four-game set against the Guardians. The Orioles will also host the White Sox on Wednesday, then travel to Cincinnati for a three-game series against the Reds before returning home to face the Chicago Cubs.
Interstat’s game simulator had projected a final score of Chicago White Sox 5, Baltimore Orioles 4. Interstat’s ELO system had projected Baltimore with a 55.00 percent probability to win. Baltimore had been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of minus-1.5. The total score of 12 went under the over/under line of 10.
