Los Angeles Angels at Arizona Diamondbacks
PHOENIX (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Angels visit the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night at Chase Field, with both teams looking to build on recent results.
Right-hander Ryne Nelson (2-5) will start for the Angels, who enter at 29-43. Left-hander Walbert Ureña (4-4) had been scheduled but was scratched. Arizona had not announced a starter as of Sunday night. The Diamondbacks own a 36-35 record, coming off a 5-3 win at Cincinnati on Sunday.
The Angels lost 8-3 to Tampa Bay on Sunday, their second defeat in three games. Left-hander Brent Suter tossed two scoreless innings in that outing and has allowed one earned run over his last five innings across two appearances. He could be a key relief option Monday.
Arizona’s offense has been inconsistent, but the club has won three of its last four. Shortstop Geraldo Perdomo homered and drove in two runs Sunday. Right-hander Zac Gallen pitched six innings in that win, allowing three earned runs while striking out four. He is not expected to start Monday but remains a pivotal arm for the Diamondbacks this series.
The Interstat game simulator projects a 5-3 Angels victory. Arizona opened as a minus-1.5 favorite, with an over/under of 8.5 runs.
The Angels and Diamondbacks continue the series Tuesday and Wednesday.
