St. Louis Cardinals at Minnesota Twins

MINNEAPOLIS (Interstat) – The St. Louis Cardinals aim to win a second straight game and take the three-game series from the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon at Target Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. under cloudy skies with a temperature of 73 degrees.

St. Louis (38-30) has not officially announced its probable starter. Right-hander Taj Bradley (5-3) is expected to get the nod after right-hander Michael McGreevy (3-5) started Saturday. Bradley has not faced Minnesota this season.

Minnesota (32-40) will counter with a pitcher to be announced, though right-hander Connor Prielipp worked 6.0 innings Saturday in a no-decision, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts.

The Cardinals enter with momentum after a 9-6 victory Saturday, powered by designated hitter Iván Herrera. Herrera went 2 for 3 with two home runs and three RBIs, extending a productive series. Over his past 10 games, Herrera is batting .320 (8 for 25) with two homers and four RBIs. He went 2 for 5 in Friday’s 9-8 loss and 3 for 3 with a homer June 9 at New York.

For the Twins, first baseman Royce Lewis went 2 for 4 with a home run and an RBI in Saturday’s loss. Second baseman Luke Keaschall added a solo homer.

The teams split the first two games of this series. St. Louis fell 9-8 on Friday before bouncing back Saturday.

St. Louis is 7-3 over its past 10 games, including a three-game sweep at the New York Mets earlier this week. Minnesota has dropped four of its past five.

NOTES: The Cardinals are 1.5-run favorites, according to Interstat’s game simulator, which projects a 6-3 final. The over/under is 8.5.

UP NEXT: St. Louis returns home Monday to open a three-game series against San Diego. Minnesota travels to Texas on Monday for a three-game set.
