Arizona Diamondbacks at Miami Marlins

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins, winners of four of their last five, open a three-game series Tuesday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks at loanDepot Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. EDT under mostly cloudy skies with a temperature of 84 degrees.

The Diamondbacks (34-31) send right-hander Zac Gallen (3-5, 4.07 ERA) to the mound. Gallen has struggled recently, allowing four earned runs in each of his past two starts, both losses. He lasted just 4⅔ innings in a 6-5 defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 2 and gave up four runs in 5⅓ innings of a 7-0 loss the following day.

The Marlins (31-35) counter with right-hander Max Meyer (6-0, 2.61 ERA), who remains unbeaten. Meyer’s last outing was a 4-1 win over Tampa Bay on June 7, in which he allowed one run on five hits with seven strikeouts over seven innings.

Arizona enters the series on a high note, having beaten Washington 5-1 on Sunday to snap a three-game losing streak. Right-hander Michael Soroka earned the win in that game, allowing one run on three hits over seven innings with six strikeouts. Soroka has been sharp over his past three starts, posting a 2.42 ERA across 19 2/3 innings with 15 strikeouts.

Miami also won Sunday, topping Tampa Bay 4-1 behind a dominant outing from right-hander Sandy Alcantara, who allowed one run on five hits with seven strikeouts in seven innings. Alcantara, who is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in his past three starts, is scheduled to start Thursday in the series finale.

The Marlins have won two straight series after taking two of three from both Washington and Tampa Bay. Arizona has split its past two series but has won eight of its last 11 games against National League East opponents.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-3 Miami victory.

The game is the first of three between the clubs. Following this series, Arizona travels to Cincinnati for a three-game set, while Miami heads to Pittsburgh for a three-game series.
