Los Angeles Angels at Los Angeles Dodgers
LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — Yoshinobu Yamamoto takes the mound for the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday against the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers, who send left-hander Justin Wrobleski to the hill in the second game of a Freeway Series set at Dodger Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. Yamamoto (5-4) has struggled with consistency this season for a last-place Angels team that carries a 24-39 record into the contest. The right-hander will look to give the Angels length against a Dodgers lineup that ranks among the National League leaders in runs scored.
The Dodgers (40-23) own the best record in the NL West and have dominated the season series against their crosstown rivals. Los Angeles swept a three-game set at Angel Stadium from May 15-17, outscoring the Angels 31-3 in the process. Friday’s series opener was postponed due to rain.
Wrobleski (2-3) is coming off a strong outing despite a loss. He allowed no earned runs over six innings Thursday at Arizona, scattering six hits while striking out four. The lefty has been effective at home this season and will look to continue the Dodgers’ recent mastery of the Angels.
Angels right-hander Walbert Ureña is a player to watch for Anaheim. Ureña has been sharp in his recent starts, posting a 1.96 ERA over his last four outings. He earned the win Wednesday against Colorado, tossing six innings with seven strikeouts while allowing three earned runs.
Wrobleski has shown similar form. He threw seven innings of one-hit ball against Philadelphia on May 29, striking out nine, but followed that with a rough outing at Milwaukee in which he allowed five earned runs.
The Angels enter the game having won two of their last three, including an 11-4 victory over the Rockies on Wednesday. Shortstop Oswald Peraza and first baseman Vaughn Grissom each drove in two runs in that game.
The Dodgers have won five of their last six. Their only loss in that stretch came Thursday in a 3-2 defeat at Arizona.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-5 Dodgers victory. Los Angeles is a -1.5 favorite on the run line, with the over/under set at 8.5 runs.
The teams conclude the two-game series Sunday at Dodger Stadium.
