San Francisco Giants at Chicago Cubs

CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Chicago Cubs look to bounce back from a lopsided defeat when they host the San Francisco Giants on Saturday afternoon at Wrigley Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT.

Probable starter Landen Roupp (5-6) takes the mound for San Francisco. The right-hander will face a Cubs lineup seeking revenge after Friday’s 18-3 drubbing, the Giants’ most lopsided win of the season.

San Francisco (26-38) has won three in a row, including consecutive victories over Milwaukee before Friday’s explosion. Third baseman Matt Chapman has been at the center of the hot streak. In Friday’s win, Chapman went 2-for-3 with two home runs and eight RBIs. Over his past 10 games, he has hit three homers and driven in 14 runs, though he endured a 0-for-4 drought earlier in the week.

Chicago (33-31) has dropped two of three after winning seven of nine. Outfielder Seiya Suzuki provides a spark; he homered in Friday’s loss and is 4-for-12 over his past three games. The Cubs will need Suzuki and the lineup to solve Roupp, who has allowed three or fewer earned runs in four of his past six starts.

Weather could be a factor. The forecast calls for rain and a temperature of 75 degrees at game time.

The Cubs are installed as -1.5 favorites on the run line, and the over/under is 8.5 runs. A projection model favors Chicago 4-3.

These teams continue their three-game series Sunday before the Cubs travel to Colorado and the Giants return home to host Washington.
