Chicago White Sox at Philadelphia Phillies

PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Chicago White Sox and Philadelphia Phillies, both sporting 33-29 records, meet Saturday evening at Citizens Bank Park in a pivotal interleague series matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. under partly cloudy skies with temperatures around 88 degrees.

Right-hander Sean Burke (2-3) will take the mound for the White Sox, while the Phillies counter with right-hander Andrew Painter (1-6), who has struggled this season.

Chicago enters the game coming off a shutout victory Wednesday at Minnesota, where Erick Fedde threw five scoreless innings in an 8-0 win. Fedde, who has been a key contributor for the White Sox, is a player to watch after posting a 2-0 record and 2.00 ERA over his last three starts, allowing just two earned runs in 14 innings.

For Philadelphia, Zack Wheeler has been dominant of late. The right-hander earned the win Thursday against San Diego, allowing two runs on two hits with eight strikeouts over seven innings. Over his last three starts, Wheeler is 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA, striking out 22 in 19 innings.

The White Sox took Friday’s series opener 5-4 in a tense affair that saw Chicago’s Andrew Benintendi homer and drive in two runs. Benintendi went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in Wednesday’s win over Minnesota, and Sam Antonacci went 4-for-4 with an RBI in that contest.

Philadelphia got a strong performance from Orion Kerkering in Thursday’s 6-4 win over San Diego, throwing a scoreless inning with one strikeout. Adolis García homered and drove in a run for the Phillies in that game.

The series continues Sunday before both teams embark on lengthy road trips. Chicago visits the New York Yankees next week, while Philadelphia travels to Toronto.

The game simulation projects a 7-6 Phillies victory, and Philadelphia is listed as a -1.5 favorite. The over/under is set at 10 runs.
