Cincinnati Reds at St. Louis Cardinals
PREVIEW: Reds at Cardinals, Friday, June 5 (Interstat) — Busch Stadium III, St. Louis
The Cincinnati Reds (31-30) visit the St. Louis Cardinals (32-28) on Friday night at 7:15 p.m. CT at Busch Stadium III, with first pitch under cloudy skies and 78-degree temperatures.
Right-hander Brady Singer (2-5) will start for Cincinnati, while St. Louis counters with right-hander Andre Pallante. Singer has struggled this season, losing his past two decisions. Pallante has been sharp recently, winning his last start Wednesday against Texas (5.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 5 K). In his only 2026 outing against Cincinnati on May 22, he allowed one run over six innings in an 8-1 victory.
The Reds come off a 5-2 loss Wednesday at home to Kansas City, where right-hander Chase Burns struck out nine over six innings but took the loss. Burns has been a bright spot for Cincinnati, going 4-1 with a 1.93 ERA over his past five starts entering that game. He is a player to watch for the Reds, though he will not pitch Friday. For St. Louis, first baseman Alec Burleson drove in three runs in Wednesday’s 5-3 win over Texas and is hitting .302 over his last 10 games.
The Cardinals took two of three from Cincinnati in their previous series May 22-23, splitting a pair of one-run decisions after winning 8-1 in the opener. The Reds have dropped three of their last four overall.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-3 Cincinnati win, though the ELO system gives St. Louis a 54.7% probability of victory. The Cardinals are installed as -1.5 favorites on the run line, with the over/under set at 9.
Cincinnati continues its road trip with three games at St. Louis before heading to San Diego. St. Louis hosts the Reds for two more games this weekend, then travels to New York to face the Mets.
