Los Angeles Dodgers at Arizona Diamondbacks
PHOENIX (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Dodgers will start left-hander Justin Wrobleski (7-2) on Thursday night as they face the Arizona Diamondbacks in the finale of a four-game series at Chase Field.
The Dodgers (39-22) have won two of the first three games of the series, including a 6-5 victory Tuesday. Los Angeles leads the season series 4-2 after also taking two of three in Phoenix in March. Arizona (32-28) trails the Dodgers by 6 1/2 games in the NL West.
Wrobleski, a key contributor to the Dodgers’ rotation, will look to continue his strong season. Arizona has not named its starter for Thursday, but right-hander Michael Soroka is a key figure after starting Tuesday’s loss. Soroka (2-4) allowed four earned runs on six hits over six innings, striking out six.
Left-hander Eric Lauer will be available out of the Dodgers bullpen. Lauer earned a win Tuesday, allowing two earned runs on five hits over 4 2/3 innings. In his previous start May 26 against Colorado, he allowed one earned run over six innings.
First baseman Freddie Freeman led the Dodgers’ offense Tuesday, going 3 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs. Designated hitter Shohei Ohtani added two RBIs.
The Diamondbacks counter with an offense featuring outfielder Corbin Carroll, who homered and drove in a run Tuesday, and third baseman Nolan Arenado, who had two RBIs.
The Dodgers have won seven of their past 10 games. The Diamondbacks have won five of their past 10.
Betting lines have the Dodgers as a -1.5 favorite, with an over/under of 9.5 runs. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-6 victory for Los Angeles.
Following Thursday’s game, the Dodgers return home to host the Los Angeles Angels in a three-game series starting Friday. The Diamondbacks stay home to welcome the Washington Nationals for a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. MST.
