Toronto Blue Jays at Baltimore Orioles
BALTIMORE (Interstat) — The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles conclude their four-game series Sunday evening at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, with first pitch scheduled under clear skies and a temperature of 68 degrees.
Toronto (29-30) will start right-hander Kyle Bradish, who owns a 2-6 record this season. Baltimore (27-32) has not announced a starting pitcher. The Orioles enter play as a -1.5 favorite on the run line, according to Interstat’s game simulator, which projects a 7-4 Toronto victory. The over/under is set at 8 runs.
The Blue Jays have taken two of the first three games of the series, winning 2-1 on Thursday and 6-5 on Friday before falling 6-5 in Saturday’s contest. Sunday’s game marks the final meeting between the division rivals before they meet again June 5-7 in Toronto.
Toronto’s Trey Yesavage will be a player to watch after a strong outing in Saturday’s loss. The right-hander allowed one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts over five innings. Over his last six starts spanning May 3-30, Yesavage has posted a 2.86 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 31 2/3 innings, though he carries a 2-4 record in that span.
Baltimore’s Brandon Young has been equally effective. He earned the win Saturday, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings. In five starts since May 6, Young is 4-1 with a 2.48 ERA and 24 strikeouts over 28 1/3 innings.
The teams are trending in opposite directions. Toronto has won seven of its last 10 games, including series wins over Miami and Pittsburgh. The Blue Jays begin a road trip Tuesday with three games at Atlanta before returning home for a six-game homestand against Baltimore and Philadelphia.
Baltimore has dropped four of its last five, though it took two of three from the Rays earlier this week at home. The Orioles hit the road Tuesday for three games at Boston.
