Arizona Diamondbacks at San Francisco Giants
SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — The Arizona Diamondbacks, winners of three straight against the San Francisco Giants, look to extend their dominance Monday night at Oracle Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. with cloudy skies and a temperature of 65 degrees.
Arizona (28-24) will start right-hander Landen Roupp (5-4). Roupp takes the mound against a Giants team that has lost five of its last six games overall and all three meetings with the Diamondbacks last week in Arizona. Those defeats came by scores of 6-3, 5-3 and 12-2, giving Arizona a 23-8 aggregate advantage.
San Francisco (22-31) has lost 10 of its last 14 games and sits in fourth place in the National League West. The Giants are a pregame favorite with a run line of minus-1.5, according to sportsbooks, but the Interstat game simulator projects a 6-3 Diamondbacks victory. The over/under is 7.5 runs.
The Diamondbacks are playing well after taking three of four from the Colorado Rockies over the weekend, including a 9-1 win Sunday. Right-hander Ryne Nelson threw eight innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts in that game. Right fielder Corbin Carroll went 4 for 4 with two RBIs, and designated hitter Ketel Marte collected three hits and three RBIs. Nelson has been stellar in recent starts – he also beat the Giants on May 19 with seven innings of three-run ball – though he is not scheduled to pitch Monday.
For the Giants, designated hitter Rafael Devers provided the offensive spark in Sunday’s 8-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox, going 2 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs. Devers also homered against Arizona on May 19 in a 5-3 loss. He has driven in 12 runs over his last 10 games.
Roupp will look to keep Devers and the Giants in check as Arizona aims for a fourth straight win in the series. The two teams continue the set Tuesday and Wednesday before Arizona travels to Seattle and San Francisco heads to Colorado.
