Minnesota Twins at Boston Red Sox
BOSTON (Interstat) — The Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox close out their four-game series Sunday with a split doubleheader at Fenway Park, with first pitch for the afternoon game scheduled for 1:35 p.m. and the nightcap set for 7:10 p.m. The Twins have won the first two games of the series, taking Friday’s game 8-6 and Saturday’s contest 4-2.
Minnesota (25-27) will send right-hander Bailey Ober (5-2, 3.72 ERA) to the mound for the afternoon game, while right-hander Sonny Gray (5-1, 2.98 ERA) is the probable starter for the evening game. Ober has won his past three decisions, including a six-inning, two-run outing against Houston on May 20. Gray has been the Twins’ most consistent starter, allowing two earned runs or fewer in six of his eight starts.
Boston (22-29) has not announced its starters for the doubleheader. The Red Sox have lost three consecutive games and six of their last eight.
Players to watch
Twins right-hander Taj Bradley has been sharp in his past three outings, including a win Saturday against Boston in which he allowed one earned run over five innings with seven strikeouts. Bradley also threw six innings of two-run ball at Washington on May 5 and seven innings with two earned runs against Seattle on April 29.
Red Sox right-hander Brayan Bello earned a no-decision Saturday despite allowing eight hits over five innings without an earned run. Bello has struggled with consistency, posting a 7.20 ERA over his past two starts after allowing seven earned runs in five innings at Atlanta on May 17.
