Arizona Diamondbacks at Texas Rangers
AP Sports Preview
ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — The Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers conclude their three-game series Wednesday night at Globe Life Park, with the clubs splitting the first two contests.
Arizona (20-20) sends right-hander Ryne Nelson (1-3) to the mound against a Rangers team that has yet to announce a starter. The Diamondbacks took Monday’s opener 1-0 behind Michael Soroka’s dominant outing, but Texas answered with a 2-1 victory Tuesday.
Arizona enters the series finale having won three of its last four games, including two of three against the Mets at home over the weekend. Texas (19-22) has lost two of its last three but snapped a brief skid Tuesday after dropping the series opener.
Players to watch
Arizona right-hander Michael Soroka has been electric in his last two starts, allowing one earned run over 12 1/3 innings with 11 strikeouts. He threw 6 1/3 scoreless frames Monday, scattering three hits. In his five starts this season, Soroka has a 2.80 ERA — a bright spot for a Diamondbacks rotation that has struggled with consistency.
For Texas, reliever Peyton Gray has been effective over his last five outings, allowing one earned run in 8 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts. The right-hander threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings Monday, giving up one hit.
Series history
The Diamondbacks have taken two of the last three meetings, including Monday’s shutout. Before that, Texas won the 2025 season series 4-2, with the teams splitting six games.
Next up
Following Wednesday’s game, Arizona travels to Colorado for a three-game set starting Friday. Texas heads to Houston to open a three-game series against the Astros on Friday.
Projection
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 Arizona victory. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CDT.
