TORONTO (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Angels visit the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Rogers Centre in a matchup of last-place teams looking to build momentum.

The Angels (15-23) enter having won two of their last three, including an 8-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. The Blue Jays (16-21) have dropped four straight, most recently a 3-0 shutout loss at Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

Los Angeles’ scheduled starter was listed as Reid Detmers (1-2), though notes also listed Dylan Cease (2-1) as probable. A decision on the starter was not confirmed. Toronto sends left-hander Patrick Corbin to the mound. Corbin (four wins, one loss in his last five decisions) took a loss May 6 at Tampa Bay despite allowing two earned runs over 5 1/3 innings.

Angels pitcher Walbert Ureña is a player to watch after a strong outing Wednesday: six innings, two hits, one earned run and five strikeouts against the White Sox. Ureña has a 2.61 ERA over his last two starts.

Corbin faced the Angels earlier this season, earning a win April 21 in Toronto’s 4-2 victory. In that start, he allowed one earned run over five innings with three strikeouts.

The teams met April 20-22 in Anaheim, with Toronto winning two of three. The Blue Jays took the series opener 5-2 and the second game 4-2 before the Angels won the finale 7-3.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-3 Toronto victory. The Blue Jays are listed as pregame favorites at -1.5, with an over/under of 7.5 runs. Interstat’s ELO system gives Toronto a 66.90 percent probability to win.

Both teams are looking to climb out of the bottom of their respective divisions. The Angels recently dropped a series to the Mets and split a four-game set with the White Sox. Toronto has lost four consecutive games after taking two of three from Minnesota.

After Friday’s contest, the teams play again Saturday and Sunday at Rogers Centre. The Angels then travel to Cleveland for a three-game series beginning Monday, while Toronto hosts Tampa Bay for three games starting the same day.
