Mets at Rockies

DENVER (Interstat) — The New York Mets visit the Colorado Rockies on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Coors Field, with both struggling National League clubs seeking traction in the early season. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. MDT.

The Mets (12-22) enter the three-game series opener having lost four of their last six, though they salvaged a victory Sunday, beating the Los Angeles Angels 5-1. First baseman Mark Vientos powered that win, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. It was the second multi-homer game of the season for Vientos, who has four home runs and eight RBIs over his last four games. Over his past 10 contests, Vientos is batting .267 (8-for-30) with four homers and six RBIs.

The Rockies (14-21) will look to build on their recent dominance over the Mets. Colorado swept a three-game series at Citi Field from April 24-26, outscoring New York 10-4. That included a 4-3 victory last Friday, a 3-0 shutout Saturday and a 3-1 win Sunday.

Colorado has lost four straight overall, however, including an 11-6 defeat Sunday to the Atlanta Braves. Left fielder Mickey Moniak was a bright spot, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs. Moniak is batting .353 (12-for-34) over his last nine games, with five home runs and nine RBIs in that span. He has multiple hits in seven of those nine contests.

The Rockies will also benefit from the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field, where they are 8-11 this season. The Mets are 4-12 on the road.

New York has not announced a starting pitcher. The Rockies are expected to counter with a right-hander.

The Interstat game simulator projects a 4-3 Rockies victory.

Following Monday’s opener, the teams play again Tuesday and Wednesday before the Mets head to Arizona and the Rockies travel to Philadelphia.

For the Mets, Vientos will be a focal point. He homered in two of the three games against the Rockies last month, going 3-for-11 with three RBIs. For the Rockies, Moniak has been the team’s most consistent hitter and will look to extend his hot streak against a Mets pitching staff that has allowed 4.8 runs per game this season.

With both teams near the bottom of the NL standings, a series win could provide a needed spark.
