Philadelphia Phillies at Miami Marlins

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins conclude their three-game series Sunday evening at loanDepot Park, with the first-place Marlins looking to secure a series win in the early-season divisional matchup.

Miami (16-17) evened the series Saturday with a 4-0 shutout, behind a dominant start from right-hander Max Meyer. The Marlins send Meyer to the mound again on Sunday looking for his third consecutive victory. Philadelphia (13-20) counters with left-hander Jesús Luzardo (2-3), who seeks to halt a two-start skid. Right-hander Chris Paddack (0-4) is also listed as a probable for the Phillies.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. The forecast calls for cloudy skies and 92 degrees.

Sunday’s pitching matchup features two of the more intriguing arms in the National League East.

Meyer (2-2, 2.29 ERA) has been electric of late. In his last three starts, he has allowed one earned run over 17 1/3 innings, striking out 20. That stretch includes Saturday’s gem against these same Phillies: 7 innings, 1 hit, zero runs, 7 strikeouts in a 4-0 Miami win. Meyer also fired 5 1/3 innings of shutout ball in a no-decision at San Francisco on April 26.

Luzardo has struggled to find consistency. Over his past three starts, he has allowed 13 earned runs in 15 1/3 innings. The lefty has a 5.40 ERA on the season and will be making his first appearance against Miami in 2026.

Players to watch

For Philadelphia, right-hander Andrew Painter has scuffled after a strong opening to the season. Over his past four starts — all losses — Painter has allowed 12 earned runs in 19 2/3 innings. He took the loss Saturday against Miami, allowing three earned runs over 5 innings.

Miami second baseman Xavier Edwards went 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI in Saturday’s win. He is hitting .310 with two homers and 11 RBIs this season.

Series snapshot

The Phillies took Friday’s opener 6-5, powered by a late-inning rally. The Marlins bounced back Saturday with Meyer’s arm and a balanced offensive attack.

Projections and odds

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 Philadelphia victory. The ELO system gives the Phillies a 53.0% probability of winning. Philadelphia is a -1.5 favorite on the run line. The over/under is set at 8 total runs.
