Murakami, Montgomery power White Sox past Padres 8‑2
SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — Munetaka Murakami hit his major league-leading 13th home run, a three-run blast to cap a six-run second inning, and the Chicago White Sox beat the San Diego Padres 8-2 on Friday night at PETCO Park. Colson Montgomery added a solo homer in the fifth, and the duo combined for their seventh multi-homer game this season — the most by any teammate duo in the first 35 games of a season in major league history. The White Sox won their fourth straight to improve to 15-17, while the Padres fell to 19-12.
Chicago collected eight hits to San Diego’s six. Noah Schultz earned the win, improving to 2-1, while Germán Márquez fell to 3-2 after allowing seven earned runs in five innings. Manny Machado and Miguel Andujar drove in the Padres’ runs in the eighth inning. The attendance was 43,638, and the game took 2 hours, 42 minutes.
