Baltimore Orioles at New York Yankees

NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Baltimore Orioles open a four-game series at Yankee Stadium II on Friday against the New York Yankees, who own the best record in the American League East.

First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. under cloudy skies with a temperature of 56 degrees.

Baltimore (15-15) will send right-hander Will Warren to the mound. Warren is 3-0 this season with a 2.84 ERA. He has yet to face New York in his young career. The Orioles have not announced a corresponding move, but Warren was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday to make the start.

New York (20-11) has won six of its past seven games, including a 3-2 victory at Texas on Tuesday. The Yankees have not named a starter for Friday, though right-hander Clarke Schmidt is scheduled to be recalled from the injured list to open the series.

Baltimore is coming off a 10-3 win over Houston on Thursday, a game in which second baseman Jeremiah Jackson homered and drove in five runs. Jackson, who is batting .278 with six home runs and 22 RBIs, has been a key contributor in May. Over his past 10 games, he has tallied 12 RBIs and three homers. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs against the Astros on Thursday.

For New York, left-handed reliever Brent Headrick has been effective out of the bullpen. In his past five outings, Headrick has allowed one earned run over 4⅓ innings, striking out five. He threw 1⅓ scoreless innings in Wednesday’s 3-0 loss to Texas.

The Yankees have dominated the season series against Baltimore in recent years, but the Orioles have shown resilience after a slow start. Baltimore’s pitching staff has a 4.31 ERA, while New York’s bullpen has been among the best in baseball with a 2.94 ERA.

According to Interstat, the Yankees are favored to win with a 64.8% probability, and the over/under is set at 8.5 runs. The money line opened with New York as a -1.5 favorite.

Baltimore will send right-hander Kyle Bradish to the mound Saturday, while New York will counter with right-hander Luis Gil. The series continues through Monday before both teams hit the road. The Orioles travel to Miami on Tuesday, while the Yankees host Texas for a three-game set.
