Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves
ATLANTA (Interstat) — The Atlanta Braves, owners of the National League’s best record at 18-8, will host the slumping Philadelphia Phillies (8-17) on Friday at 7:20 p.m. at Truist Park.
The forecast calls for 72-degree temperatures and cloud cover.
Atlanta enters the contest having won 10 of its last 12 games, including a 7-2 victory Thursday at Washington. Rookie right-hander JR Ritchie (1-0, 2.57 ERA) was dominant in that start, tossing seven innings of five-hit ball, allowing two earned runs and striking out seven.
Philadelphia, which has lost nine of its last 10, will counter with right-hander Andrew Painter (1-1, 4.50 ERA). The Phillies are coming off a 10-inning, 8-7 loss Thursday at Chicago, despite a three-hit, two-homer, three-RBI performance from Brandon Marsh.
The Braves have dominated the season series, sweeping a three-game set in Philadelphia last weekend by a combined score of 16-3.
Marsh has been a bright spot for the Phillies, going 5-for-8 with two homers and three RBIs over his last two games after a brief slump. He is a player to watch.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-1 Braves victory. Atlanta is a -1.5 run-line favorite, with an over/under of 9 runs. The ELO system gives Atlanta a 55% probability of winning.
