Chicago White Sox at Arizona Diamondbacks

PHOENIX (Interstat) — The struggling Chicago White Sox, fresh off avoiding a sweep in Oakland, open a three-game interleague series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field on Tuesday night.

The White Sox (8-14) will send right-hander Sean Burke (0-2) to the mound looking for his first win of the season. He will be opposed by Arizona veteran Merrill Kelly (1-0).

Chicago arrives after a 7-4 victory over the Athletics on Sunday, highlighted by a strong start from left-hander Noah Schultz. The rookie pitched five innings, allowing one run on one hit with six strikeouts. Third baseman Miguel Vargas added a two-run homer.

Arizona (13-9) looks to rebound after a 10-4 home loss to Toronto on Sunday. Despite the defeat, starter Brandon Pfaadt turned in a quality start, allowing one earned run over 6 1/3 innings.

The Diamondbacks have been strong at home, going 7-3 in their last 10 games at Chase Field. The White Sox have lost 10 of their last 14 games overall.

A player to watch for Chicago is Schultz, who has posted a 3.86 ERA with 10 strikeouts in his last two outings. For Arizona, Pfaadt has been a consistent arm, logging at least six innings in three of his four starts this season.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-3 Diamondbacks victory. Arizona is a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5, and the over/under is set at 9 runs.

Following this series, the White Sox return to Chicago for a homestand against Washington and the Los Angeles Angels. The Diamondbacks will host San Diego before embarking on a road trip to Milwaukee and Chicago.
