St. Louis Cardinals at Miami Marlins
ST. LOUIS (Interstat) — The St. Louis Cardinals, riding a four-game winning streak, open a three-game series against the Miami Marlins on Monday at loanDepot park, though rain in the forecast could complicate the opener.
The Cardinals (13-8) arrive in South Florida after sweeping a three-game set in Houston, capped by a 7-5, 10-inning victory Sunday. The Marlins (10-12) are coming off a 5-3 win over Milwaukee.
Right-hander Michael McGreevy (1-1, 4.50 ERA) is the probable starter for St. Louis. He will be opposed by Miami’s Max Meyer (1-0, 3.38 ERA).
A player to watch for the Cardinals is left-hander Matthew Liberatore, who delivered six strong innings in Sunday’s win, allowing one earned run on three hits. Over his last five starts, he is 4-1 with a 3.00 ERA.
For the Marlins, right-hander Eury Pérez is coming off his best outing of the season, tossing six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in Sunday’s victory over the Brewers.
Despite Miami being installed as a -1.5 favorite, Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-2 Cardinals victory. The over/under is set at 8 runs.
The weather forecast for Monday evening in Miami Gardens calls for temperatures around 80 degrees with rain.
