HOUSTON (Interstat) — Masyn Winn hit a two-run homer and the St. Louis Cardinals connected three times to beat the Houston Astros 7-5 on Saturday night at Daikin Park.

St. Louis built a 6-1 lead behind homers from Winn, José Fermín and Alec Burleson. Andre Pallante earned the win, allowing one run over five innings. Yordan Alvarez hit his ninth homer for Houston in the first. The Astros scored three in the ninth on Shay Whitcomb’s homer before Riley O’Brien got the final two outs for his sixth save. Lance McCullers Jr. took the loss. The Cardinals improved to 12-8. The Astros fell to 8-14, losing for the 11th time in 13 games. Attendance was 33,319.
