San Francisco Giants at Cincinnati Reds

CINCINNATI (Interstat) — The Cincinnati Reds will look to complete a series sweep when they host the struggling San Francisco Giants in the finale of a three-game set Thursday at Great American Ball Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 82 degrees.

The Reds (10-7) have taken the first two games of the series, including a 2-1 pitchers’ duel Tuesday and an 8-3 victory Wednesday. The Giants (6-11) have lost four of their last five and sit in last place in the NL West.

San Francisco will turn to right-hander Chase Burns (1-1, 3.86 ERA) to try to salvage the series. Burns has been solid, but the Giants’ offense has mustered just four runs total in its last three games.

Cincinnati counters with right-hander Brady Singer (3-1, 3.60 ERA), who earned the win in Tuesday’s matchup. Singer allowed one run over six innings, scattering six hits. He has won three of his four starts this season.

A player to watch for the Giants is left-hander Robbie Ray, who took the tough-luck loss Tuesday after allowing two runs on two hits over five innings with six strikeouts. He has 24 strikeouts in 22.1 innings this year.

The Reds’ bullpen has been key in the series, with Emilio Pagán and Graham Ashcraft combining for two perfect innings of relief with three strikeouts in the opener.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Reds 5, Giants 2. The over/under is set at 8.5 runs, with San Francisco installed as a slight pregame favorite at -1.5.

Following the game, the Giants travel to Washington for a weekend series, while the Reds head to Minnesota to face the Twins.
