Preview: Marlins, Braves Set for Rubber Match in Atlanta
ATLANTA (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves will decide their three-game series Wednesday night at Truist Park, with both teams looking to build momentum after splitting the first two contests.
The Marlins (9-8) evened the series with a 10-4 victory on Monday, powered by a strong offensive showing. They will hand the ball to right-hander Chris Paddack (0-2, 6.75 ERA), who is still seeking his first win of the season. Miami has won two of its last three games.
Atlanta (10-7) will counter with right-hander Bryce Elder (1-1, 3.86 ERA). The Braves saw a three-game winning streak snapped in Monday’s loss but have won four of their last six.
A key player to watch for Miami is designated hitter Agustín Ramírez. He torched Braves pitching on Monday, going 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs. Over his last 10 games, Ramírez is batting .300 (12 for 40) with two homers and eight RBIs.
For Atlanta, all eyes will be on starter Grant Holmes, who took the loss on Monday after allowing three earned runs over four innings. Prior to that, Holmes had been sharp, posting a 1.29 ERA over his previous two starts, including six shutout innings against Arizona on April 3.
The Braves hold a slim one-game lead over the Marlins in the early National League East standings. According to Interstat’s game simulator, Atlanta is projected to win a close one, 5-4. The Braves are installed as a -1.5 run favorite, with an over/under of 9 runs.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. EDT under clear skies with a game-time temperature near 75 degrees.
Following the series, the Marlins return home to open a set with the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. The Braves hit the road to begin a four-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies the same day.
