Preview: Rangers at Athletics, April 13, 2026
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Interstat) — Two American League West teams riding winning momentum will meet Monday when the Texas Rangers visit the Athletics at Sutter Health Park.
Both clubs enter the series opener with identical 8-7 records, looking to gain an early edge in the division. The Rangers are coming off a 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, while the Athletics blanked the New York Mets 1-0.
The marquee matchup features Texas ace Jacob deGrom (3-0, 2.84 ERA) against Oakland’s Aaron Civale (2-1, 1.56 ERA). deGrom is in vintage form, striking out 22 batters over 15 2/3 innings in his last two starts, both wins. He allowed one earned run over six innings with nine strikeouts in his last outing.
Civale has been equally dominant for the Athletics, coming off 5 2/3 scoreless innings against the Mets. He has allowed just one earned run over his last 10 2/3 innings pitched.
Despite the pitching duel, Interstat’s game simulator projects a higher-scoring affair, favoring the Athletics 7-3. Betting markets, however, list the Rangers as a -1.5 run favorite with an over/under of 9 runs.
Texas took two of three from the Athletics in their last meeting during the 2025 season. This game begins a four-game series between the division rivals, with three in West Sacramento this week before a rematch in Texas on April 24.
The Rangers’ bullpen, featuring Jakob Junis and Cole Winn, combined for 2 1/3 perfect innings of relief Sunday. The Athletics’ relievers, including Joel Kuhnel and Hogan Harris, were just as sharp, preserving Sunday’s shutout.
Following this series, Texas travels to Seattle for a three-game set starting Friday. will host the Chicago White Sox for three games beginning Friday.
