Houston Astros at Seattle Mariners
Preview: Astros, Mariners Conclude Series in Seattle
SEATTLE (Interstat) — The Houston Astros will look to avoid a four-game sweep when they face the Seattle Mariners in the series finale Monday afternoon at T-Mobile Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. PDT under cloudy skies with a temperature near 59 degrees.
The Mariners (7-9) have taken the first three games of this set, outscoring the Astros (6-10) 23-14. Seattle won 6-1 on Sunday behind a strong start from Logan Gilbert.
Houston will send right-hander George Kirby (1-2) to the mound. Kirby will face a Mariners lineup that has found its rhythm during this homestand. Seattle counters with Gilbert (1-2), who is coming off a dominant performance against these same Astros. Gilbert allowed one run on four hits over seven innings Sunday, striking out seven.
A player to watch for Houston is reliever Enyel De Los Santos, who has not allowed an earned run in his last four appearances, spanning 5 1/3 innings. He pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings in Sunday’s loss.
Despite the recent results, Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-2 Astros victory. Seattle has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under is set at 7.5 runs.
Following Monday’s game, the Astros return home to begin a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday. The Mariners embark on a road trip, opening a three-game set against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday.
Probable Pitchers: Astros RHP George Kirby (1-2) vs. Mariners RHP Logan Gilbert (1-2).
Series: Mariners lead 3-0.
Up Next: Astros: Host Colorado on Tuesday. Mariners: At San Diego on Tuesday.
