Houston Astros at Seattle Mariners

SEATTLE (Interstat) — The Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners will look to rebound from recent struggles when they continue their series Saturday at T-Mobile Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. PDT. The Mariners, despite a 4-9 record, are installed as a -1.5 favorite with an over/under of 7 runs. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-2 Astros victory.

Houston (6-7) sends right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. (1-0) to the mound. Seattle (4-9) will counter with right-hander Luis Castillo (0-0).

Both clubs are coming off shutout losses Wednesday. Houston fell 9-1 at Colorado, while Seattle was blanked 3-0 at Texas. The teams opened this four-game set with a 0-0 tie Friday; details of that contest were not provided.

A player to watch for the Astros is reliever Kai-Wei Teng. In his last outing Wednesday, he provided 1 1/3 scoreless innings in the loss at Colorado. Over his last five appearances, he has a 2.16 ERA with six strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings.

For the Mariners, right-hander Bryan Woo is a key figure. He took a hard-luck loss Wednesday in Texas, allowing one earned run over five innings. In his previous start April 3, he tossed seven shutout innings of one-hit ball in a win at Los Angeles.

Houston’s offense seeks a spark after scoring just three total runs in its three-game sweep at Colorado. Seattle’s bats have also been quiet, scoring three or fewer runs in eight of its 13 games.

Following this game, the series concludes Sunday and Monday. Houston then returns home for a six-game homestand against Colorado and St. Louis. Seattle embarks on a six-game road trip to San Diego and Texas starting Tuesday.
