Los Angeles Angels at Cincinnati Reds

CINCINNATI (Interstat) — The Cincinnati Reds, looking to rebound from a series loss in Miami, return home to face the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night at Great American Ball Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 73 degrees.

The Reds (8-5) enter the three-game series after dropping two of three to the Marlins, including an 8-1 loss on Thursday. Cincinnati’s offense will look to reignite against Angels right-hander Jack Kochanowicz (1-0). The Reds counter with their own promising righty, Chase Burns (1-0).

Kochanowicz will face a Reds lineup that saw rookie Sal Stewart hit his first career home run in Thursday’s defeat. The Angels (6-7) arrive after being swept in a two-game set by Atlanta, including an 8-2 loss Wednesday where Jorge Soler provided the lone highlight with a home run.

A key player to watch for Los Angeles is reliever Brent Suter, who has been a bright spot despite the team’s struggles. Over his last five appearances, Suter has allowed earned runs in only two outings, most recently tossing two scoreless innings with two strikeouts against the Braves.

The Reds’ bullpen will rely on left-hander Brock Burke, who has been nearly untouchable. In his last six outings, Burke has surrendered just one hit and zero runs over 6 innings, striking out eight.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Reds are projected to win 5-3. Cincinnati has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under is set at 9.5 runs.

Following this series, the Angels continue a road trip with a four-game set against the New York Yankees. The Reds will host the San Francisco Giants for three games beginning Tuesday.
