Diamondbacks Rally Late, Rout Mets Behind Rodriguez’s Strong Start

NEW YORK (Interstat) — Eduardo Rodriguez allowed one run over six innings and the Arizona Diamondbacks broke open a tie game with a four-run seventh inning to rout the New York Mets 7-1 on Thursday at Citi Field.

Luis Robert Jr. gave the Mets an early lead with a first-inning home run, but Rodriguez settled in, scattering five hits. The game remained 1-0 until the seventh, when Arizona sent nine men to the plate. Pinch-hitter Gabriel Moreno keyed the rally with a two-run double, part of his two-hit, two-RBI day.

The Diamondbacks added three more in the eighth. Rodriguez earned the win, while Mets starter Nolan McLean took the loss despite striking out eight over 6 1/3 innings. Arizona’s bullpen, led by Taylor Rashi, threw three scoreless innings. Attendance was 35,783. Both teams are now 7-6.
