Atlanta Braves at Los Angeles Angels
ANAHEIM, Calif. (Interstat) — Two teams with identical records seeking momentum will meet Wednesday afternoon when the Atlanta Braves visit the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium.
The Braves (6-5) and Angels (6-5) will play the rubber match of their three-game series after splitting the first two contests. The Angels won 6-2 on Monday before Tuesday’s game was scoreless.
Atlanta will send right-hander Grant Holmes (0-1, ERA N/A) to the mound. Holmes will be making his second start of the young season. He will be opposed by Angels left-hander Reid Detmers (0-0, ERA N/A), who is also making his second start.
A key player to watch for the Braves is reliever Osvaldo Bido, who has been excellent out of the bullpen. In his last three appearances, he has allowed just one earned run over six innings, striking out five. He pitched two scoreless innings in Monday’s loss to the Angels.
The Angels counter with starter José Soriano, who dominated the Braves in his last outing. On Monday, Soriano threw eight innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out 10. In his three starts this season, he has allowed just one earned run over 20 innings.
Both teams have mirrored each other’s early-season path, with matching records and recent series splits against Arizona and Seattle, respectively, before this set.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Braves are projected to win 5-4. Atlanta has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under is set at 8 runs.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. PDT under clear skies with a game-time temperature near 75 degrees.
Following the game, the Braves return home to open a series against Cleveland on Friday. The Angels will embark on a road trip, starting in Cincinnati on Friday.
