Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins

Tigers, Twins Look to Break Even in Chilly Target Field Finale

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (Interstat) — Two American League Central foes seeking to climb out of early-season stagnation will meet Wednesday when the Detroit Tigers face the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. local time under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 41 degrees Fahrenheit.

Both teams enter with identical 4-6 records. The Twins took the series opener 7-3 on Monday before Tuesday’s scheduled game was postponed.

The Tigers will send left-hander Framber Valdez (1-0) to the mound. Minnesota counters with right-hander Bailey Ober (0-0).

A player to watch for Detroit is reliever Drew Anderson, who tossed three innings of one-run ball with four strikeouts in Monday’s loss. For the Twins, starter Joe Ryan is coming off a strong outing against these same Tigers, allowing two runs over five innings with seven strikeouts in the April 6 victory.

Detroit’s offense, which was limited to three runs on Monday, will look for more production after being shut out in Tuesday’s postponement. Zach McKinstry and Colt Keith drove in all three runs in the recent loss.

Minnesota’s Luke Keaschall provided a key two-run homer in Monday’s win.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Tigers are projected for a 4-3 victory. Detroit has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under is set at 8 runs.

Following Wednesday’s contest, the teams conclude their four-game set Thursday afternoon before Detroit returns home to host Miami and Minnesota travels to Toronto.
