Rangers Use 5th-Inning Error to Sweep Slumping Mariners

ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — The Texas Rangers capitalized on a costly fifth-inning error to scratch across three runs, completing a three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners with a 3-0 victory Wednesday at Globe Life Park.

All three Texas runs came in the fifth against Seattle starter Bryan Woo (0-1). With two on, Brandon Nimmo reached on a fielder’s choice that scored two runs when Mariners first baseman Connor Joe made a throwing error. Corey Seager later added a sacrifice fly.

That was ample support for Rangers starter MacKenzie Gore (2-0), who held Seattle to two hits over six shutout innings. Cole Winn earned his first save. The Mariners, held to just two hits total, have lost four straight and fell to 4-9. The Rangers improved to 7-5. Attendance was 20,997. Time of game was 2:14.
